Disappointment

First, we get a call a few weeks ago from the soccer club that my daughter's indoor division only had 10 players. Barely enough for a team and no teams to play against. We had two options: move her to U10 (with girls 3-4 years her senior) or play co-ed with the same age division. Co-ed it is. She was very disappointed. Then, today (on Thanksgiving) an e-mail was sent to the parents saying that they had 10 teams but only 4 coaches secured. They were going to contact the high schools to see if they had some seniors who would like to coach. Don't they need first aid and a coaching certificate? Also, the e-mail seemed to indicate that our daughter was still playing a division up from her age. Given that we had already made the first change and our daughter wasn't happy about it, we decided to pull her out until the summer. It seems our daughter couldn't care less. Two positives from this story: 1) it appears we will get the refund we requested, and 2) she won't be missing archery for 15 weeks as we thought. Until next time... D.

Something new

I tried something new on the weekend. Went to a jazz festival with my 6 year old in Waterloo, Ontario. A local music store had an "instrument petting zoo" for kids to try out jazz instruments. My daughter tried the trumpet and actually made some noise! She was quite proud of herself and then tried the slide trombone. The highlight of the night for me was the free concert by Matt Dusk! D.

Another new sport?

OK, so on Easter Monday I thought we should do a family activity together. We went bowling. My hubby used to bowl with his mom when he was younger. I've only bowled a few times in my life. My daughter (who will be 6 soon) tried it in the summer and has been asking to go again. We had a great time. We're thinking of having a bowling birthday party for her. Another new sport for her to add to her list of interests? We'll see. We didn't go to archery tonight and she was in tears when she found out. Until next time...D.

Being sick off & on since October has really knocked me for a loop. I'm not myself. And I'm definitely sick of being sick! How do I fall in love again with my guitar & my camera? D.

Soccer Saturday

Soccer playoffs, otherwise known as Soccer Saturday. My daughter's team played at 9:00am and they won that game so they had to play at 3:00pm in the semi finals. Between the first and second game she also had swimming lessons. The second game ended in sudden death with each team taking 5 penalty shots. I think it was because they didn't allow time in the schedule for overtime. It would have been nice for them to go on to the final match but 3 games in one day (plus swimming) is a little much for a 5 year old! They had a good season and it was nice to place 3rd. She's excited to play in the summer again. The season starts May 26th.

Until next time...D.

Design Team Update

Well, my head shot was taken last Friday. Another snow storm cancelled the store's midnight crop this past Friday but I managed to work on my "All About Me" page this weekend. It's almost finished--the final touch would be the head shot! I will be dropping it off in the store soon. Check out All About Scrapbooks on blogger. Until next time...D.
